Yun Cheng
Attorney

Attorney Cheng practices in a variety of areas with Lion’s Law. He represents corporate and individual clients in civil and commercial litigations. He assists clients with various legal issues involving breach of contract, landlord & tenant disputes in both residential and commercial leases, misrepresentation, breach of fiduciary duties, defamation, wrongful termination, and the Massachusetts Consumer Protection Act Chapter 93A. His skill set and experience in legal research, motion drafting, deposition, and oral argument enables him to successfully defend his clients’ rights through both litigation and settlement. 

Attorney Cheng’s practice areas also include intellectual property (IP) law, corporate law, and employment law. He has represented clients in front of the USPTO on different intellectual property matters, including trademark registration, trademark consultations, trademark prosecutions, copyright infringement actions, and copyright licensing.

He drafts, reviews and negotiates the terms of the commercial leases. He is also experienced in assisting clients to incorporate their businesses and draft corporate documents. In addition, he addressed employer’s needs in employment offer, employment agreement, handbook, assignment of intellectual property, trade secrets, non-solicitation, non-compete, and wage and hour issue. 

Attorney Cheng has advised clients on organizing multiple 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. His clients are in industries in technology, biopharma and life science, sports, education, exports and imports, athletic clubs, food services, childcare services and real estate brokerage.

Prior to joining Lion's Law, Attorney Cheng practiced law at The Kasen Law Firm in New York City, Boston Municipal Court, and King & Capital Law firm in Beijing, China. He advocates for client rigorously by infusing his attention to details and strong analytical skills with a highly individualized approach and a goal to win.

Representative Matter

  • Representing Sunco (Timer) Kunshan Co., Ltd, a leading kitchen cabinet manufacturer in China, in a lawsuit against a distributor and affiliated company defendants for a commercial dispute of over $6,000,000.

  • Won a summary judgment for a travel agency that purchased a bus from the bank defendant where our client defaulted on the loan.

  • Represented a landlord for successful eviction and won the trial for monetary damage. 

  • Successfully prepared and filed with United States Trademark and Patent Office of a registered trademark of a new drug for a US subsidiary of one of the largest publicly traded drug manufacturers in China.

  • Assisted a biotechnology company to issue a cease-and-desist letter to a former employee who refused to return certain valuable equipment after being terminated, and the employee returned equipment immediately.

  • Prepared and received approval from IRS a 501(c)(3) tax exemption for a nonprofit company in researching and using Omega-3 fatty acid to promote global health.

  • Negotiated a settlement for a lawsuit where our client asserted breach of contract and other claims against defendant, a former employee and his newly founded business for taking and using a 3D panoramic imaging scanner without permission.

  • Settled a lawsuit where two individual guarantors, also owners of a restaurant, were sued by the landlord for back rent where the restaurant vacated voluntarily and released by the landlord verbally but failed to enter a written settlement and release with the landlord.

  • Prepared an opposition for a business responding to a cease & desist letter by a company asserting client’s alleged trademark infringement, resulting in the demand being dropped.

  • Settled a copyright infringement and trade secret misappropriate dispute for an art school business with its independent contractor.
